Horse Riding – The Importance of the Helmet

While people are becoming more aware of the need for head safety, somehow the equestrian world has missed the boat. Cyclists are wearing helmets, worrying about the potential impact should they fall or be hit by a car. And yet, riders on living, thinking animals seem to forget the risks.

Horseback riding has one of the highest accident rates for minor injuries. When entering the Emergency room with a broken collar bone or other injury, most doctors and nurses just sigh when you tell them you ride horses. It is an every-day kind of occurrence.

Lots of people think of riding motorcycles as being highly dangerous, but in fact, riding horses ranks at about the same level! Imagine, on a motorcycle, you are traveling very quickly with nothing much between you and the ground. On a horse, you are traveling very quickly with nothing much between you and the ground. The only difference is that motorcycles are controlled by the driver. Horses have a mind of their own.

It is easy to forget how quickly things can go wrong. If your horse is a quiet animal who rarely startles, you might not think that anything could happen. But all it takes is a sudden noise, or something that catches his eye and he could be off and running, leaving you in the dirt. Even the quietest horse in the world has the potential to spook.

When training a performance horse the risk is even greater. The more fit the horse is, the more likely he is to have the athleticism to unseat his rider. Besides being fit, he is also more alert and has a higher chance of pulling something stupid in response to good spirits, or even having a temper tantrum over a movement he does not want to do.

World class dressage riders have been known to lose control of their horses, and dressage is the sport where control is of the essence. Jumper riders get ditched by their horses when they refuse a jump. An overexcited gaming horse can slip and fall in the middle of a pattern, and even a champion pleasure horse can stumble, catching his rider unaware.

And yet, thousands of adult riders refuse to wear helmets. They are hot, they are uncomfortable, and they don’t look cool. You name it, and the excuse is used. So many riders feel that they would never fall off, or that their horse would never pull anything stupid on them. And yet, as a rider becomes more experienced, the risk of injury during a fall tends to go up. This is because it generally takes something a lot bigger to get them off, and the potential for landing badly increases with the explosiveness of the situation.

All it takes is once, and you could suffer from a serious concussion, or worse. It is a fact that riders die every year from head impacts that would have caused little more than a serious headache if they had been wearing a helmet.

Additionally, as adults, we need to set a good example to young riders. How many kids feel that it is perfectly safe to hop on a horse without anything on their head? How many others can’t wait until they are 18 and no longer need to wear a helmet in the ring? If adults were more responsible about wearing helmets, perhaps the young riders would feel more comfortable about protecting their heads.

You only get one head. It is worth protecting.

How to whiten a horse riding helmet?

My riding helmet is turning a yellowish colour and i am not sure of what to use to whiten the outside of it? Thanks

Are you aware that when the plastic starts to change colors, it is time to get a new helmet? That means the plastic is breaking down, and it no longer has it’s protective qualities that ASTM and SEI denote.

Helmets are dated on the inside, and if you read the info at the websites, most helmets are expected to need to be replaced about every 3-4 years. Sooner if you have a fall.

The Equipment that you need for Horse Riding

You cannot just jump on a horse and ride it without the proper equipment, because it would be a lot more difficult than you think. Having the right equipment to ride a horse will ensure that you have a comfortable and safe ride. You might be taking horse riding lessons, riding for fun, or for job related reasons, but either way you need to learn about all of the equipment that you will need especially if it is your first time to ride.

One of the first items that you will need to buy for your horse is bridles. This is an item that has reins on it that needs to be placed on the mouth of the horse. This is an important piece of equipment because it helps you to lead the horse in different directions as you ride it. Your steering will also be made a lot easier if you find one that you and your horse are more comfortable with. The next item that you need to buy is the reins that go with the bridle. This is something that helps in the steering of the horse. It is very important that you purchase good quality reins, because the cheaper ones won’t last as long and will break really easily. They might even break while you are riding the horse which is not very safe for you at all.

Saddles are something that you will need to put on the horses back in order to have a more comfortable ride. You can choose between either the English saddles or the Western saddles, but the Western saddles are the ones that people like the most because they are a lot more comfortable to use. Western saddle also has a horn on the front of it as an optional hold in case the ride becomes a bit rough.

The next things that you need to buy are stirrups. They are what you place your feet in when you are getting on the horse and when you are riding to help keep your legs and feet in place. You need to make sure that you find the right length for your legs. Crops and whips are the next items that you will need to buy because these are items that will help you to better steer the horse when the reins aren’t working well enough. However, these are optional items.

ake sure you buy all the horse tack and equestrian equipment such as horse rugs online where the best deals can be got.

Which is less expensive, English or Western horse riding tack?

I am going to buy horse tack and I was wondering which is cheaper because the horse I just bought goes both. No I am not one of those people who keep horses on 3 acres I have 53 acres and 2 horses now. Please don’t post if it is just pointing out flaws in the questions or criticizing me.

You can get cheap and expensive tack in both styles. I would base your decision on what you like better, not what’s cheaper, because you can find cheap tack in both Western and English.

Riding Boots Are Undoubtedly In Vogue

It may be tough to keep up with the world of fashion anytime and we don’t know at any one point in time just what might grow to be “in vogue.” It would appear that one of the newest developments includes riding boots, which you’ll find becoming quite fashionable for the event about town, or even a visit to the office. Apparently it’s a lot to do with their wide-spread appeal and also the fact they can be worn together with very many different costumes yet still appear purposeful as well as attractive. Long riding boots that fit above the knees are becoming extremely popular, putting a hot although fashionable statement in a number of different settings.

Footwear specially designed for equestrianism will often be found to be “workable” whenever weather conditions outside are on the slick side or perhaps inclement. While equestrian footwear is, obviously, made for a certain purpose, it really is intriguing to discover that it’s beginning to extend into the world of design and everyday use too.

In choosing footwear for horseback riding, there are 2 distinct camps. Whilst long riding boots are usually indicated for specific professional functions in some groups, several select short boots for daily pursuits as well as for more laid-back excursions. Of course, long riding boots may cost rather a lot more than their shorter counterparts and in these types of situations several decide to don short boots but additionally especially created half chaps, which could give the feeling that longer boots are being worn!

Riding boots are specifically designed for high level of comfort, sturdiness and also durability. The layout of the sole and also the heel takes into account the actual relationship with the stirrup and these patterns also are designed to let your foot to move into as well as out of the stirrup with out difficulty in case you might get in the middle of some sort of unpleasant incident.

Designers and manufacturers are more sophisticated these days. Even though some would likely consider riding boots to be very functional and something that ought to be mainly designed for an objective, the makers want to make certain that their own designs are very stylish and elegant these days too. Levels of competition are quite intense and consumers will make a conclusion based on the appearance along with the feel and then the structure of the particular product. This is precisely why many of the long riding boots that you can purchase these days are finding use on our streets and then in the cities, as opposed to on paths as well as in the wilderness.

Whenever riding, your choices are quite apparent. You ought to either select jodhpurs or riding breeches and also combine these with the correct equestrian footwear. Definitely, your clothing could be influenced by numerous event competition organisers, but mainly you don’t have a hard choice when considering choice of lower body clothes. Conversely, if you do plan to employ long riding boots for the particular date on the town, you should be a lot more sympathetic to your all round “appearance.” Keep in mind that the actual longer boots will extend your appearance, regardless of how tall you truly are. For that reason, you have to select your other sorts of apparel with care!

belly button ring and horseback riding?

i used to ride and show horses, equestrian, but quit less than a year ago because i couldnt really get back into it after i had knee surgery. i tore some cartiledge and had to get it (my knee) scoped out. that was may 30th 2006. i tried to get back into horseback, but couldnt and i quit last august. i got my belly button pierced in march, so its been about 4 months. would having my belly button pierced cause or bring any problem to starting horseback again? if i ended up doing shows again if i can go back, i was thinking about whether or not the breeches would cause a problem since they come up so high? would there be a chance of tearing my belly button ring out? any advice would be great! thanks!!

It really shouldn’t, my sister rides in shows and she has hers pierced. I’m not sure she actually wears the jewlery while riding though. Although one thing i would be careful of if your piercing isn’t healed yet be careful about getting sweat in it, make sure to keep it clean. But other then that you should be good to go!

Jodhpurs & Carpenter Jeans

Jodhpurs are tight-fitting trousers that reach to the ankle, where they end in a snug cuff, and are worn primarily for horseback riding. The term can also refer to a type of short riding boot, also called a paddock boot or a jodhpur boot.

Raffia RibbonOriginally, jodhpurs (as worn in and around the city in India after which they are named) were tight-fitting only from the knee to the ankle and were flared above the knee; modern stretch-fabrics have allowed jodhpurs to be supportive and flexible.

Special adaptations for riding include a pattern cut with the leg seams on the outside of the leg; a patch on the inside of the knee, sometimes of a sticky material such as leather; and in some cases an additional harder-wearing “sticky” panel on the seat, also of leather or a synthetic with similar properties. Traditionally, classic jodhpurs are white or cream, but now come in a variety of colours.

The word “jodhpurs” is often used interchangeably with riding breeches, although breeches more strictly are riding trousers that come down to just below the knee. Jodhpurs, along with riding breeches, may be worn with knee-high riding boots, but jodhpurs are more commonly worn with short jodhpur or “paddock” boots, sometimes with knee-length half-chaps or leggings.

Kentucky Jodhpurs are full-length riding pants used exclusively in Saddle seat riding. Like Hunt Seat jodhpurs, they are close-fitting from waist to ankle, but differ in that they are much longer, ending with a flared bell bottom that fits over the jodhpur boot, usually extending longer than the heel of the boot in back, and covering the arch of the foot (but not the toe) in front. The overall look gives the impression of a rider with a long leg, a desired equitation standard. Like the hunt seat jodhpur, they have elastic straps that run under the boot to help hold the pant leg in place.[1] Saddle seat riders, whose riding clothing styles derived from men’s business suits, wear Kentucky Jodhpurs in dark colors, usually black, navy blue, or a shade that matches the riding coat.

Carpenter jeans are jeans with many pockets and loops which can be used to carry objects such as tools and are often loose around the leg to be able to accommodated the affixed items. They are often used by carpenters, hence the name, to carry their tools so that their hands can be kept free yet the tools are still easily accessible.

Carpenter jeans are usually made of blue denim; however, canvas may be the material in more durable styles, and colours may vary; white and beige are other popular colours. A ‘hammer loop’ is usually located on the side of the mid-thigh; although this was originally incorporated into the jeans for its usefulness, most carpenters do not use the hammer loop, as the hammer tends to swing or even fall out. Other features include extra pockets, sometimes located on the outer thighs, and extra rivets for durability. Another feature is wider belt loops, to accommodate a wider, thicker belt. Because of the weight of the tools carried in the pockets and loops, a tightly cinched, wide ‘work belt’ must be worn by most men.

Most carpenter jeans are made for function, not fashion, and are usually of a softer denim than the original utilitarian jeans, with a looser fit.

An Introductory Guide to Learning about Horse Tack

For many horse owners it is tricky to know when and how to first establish tack for the when training a juvenile horse. Putting on western tack is so overwhelming that horse owners, both experienced and inexperienced alike, put it off far too long. However, the majority of horses allow tack with very little problems. The secret is to do it gradually so the horse can get accustomed to it.

To start, introduce the horse to the bit. If it is familiar with wearing a bridle, it is sometimes easiest to use a bit that doesn’t use a bridle at all. I’ve heard some stories in which horse owners coat the bit with molasses to make it go a little smoother but that is a matter of personal preference. Now, get a soft bit like a snaffle and then use a small amount of binder twine to tie the bit to the far side of the bridle. Make sure it is level with the horse’s mouth. Next, get a second piece of twine and tie it to the near ring of the bit.

Next grab a hold of the horse on a lead-line and try to slide the bit into the far corner of its mouth. You probably won’t have any problems since the majority of horses voluntarily open their mouths for the bit. If by chance it doesn’t, slide your finger into the near corner of its mouth and it should willingly open its mouth. Put the bit in place for a second before slipping it out again. Try to repeat this process a few times, until it allows the bit without a trouble.

While the bit is still on, take a little time to groom it or take it for a relaxing walk. Never apply pressure to the bit. You want the horse to become used to the bit in its mouth so let it chew on the bit for a little and get used to the feeling.

Now it is time to add the saddle. First, you’ll want to begin with a saddle pad. Horse owners place the saddle over the horse’s back and move it around a little so the horse become comfortable with it on. Now that the saddle pad is in place, gently set the saddle on its back.

Once the saddle is on tight, let the horse go so it run around the ring a little. It will probably buck a few times trying escaping the saddle so don’t get nervous. After a little while, it will settle down once it realizes the saddle is not going to fall off no matter how much it bucks.

Decorating ideas for a mud room to look like a horse tack room?

Were getting a mud room put onto our house and I would like to design it so it looks like a tack room. For example were going to use bridle racks to hang jackets on. Does anyone have any other decorating ideas, websites, or pictures that would be helpful for this?
Thanks so much!
Ok! Thanks so much for your ideas. Keep thinking about more ideas and send them to me please!

The FarmVille Horse Stables are a great addition to the FarmVille game. Now it is possible to store your horses and harvest them all at the same time.

We all know that it is too easy to run out of space in FarmVille regardless of the size of your farm. So, with the release of the Horse Stables we can free up a bit of space for all the other goodies we want and they really help regardless of what level you are on.

Space and Time Saving Advantages of the Horse Stables

Stables hold a maximum of 20 horses

Can harvest all your horses at once

Horses are harvestable after 24 hours

Here Is What You Need For Your Horse Stable

Space! The Horse Stable needs around six plowed plots of land

Horse Stable frame – free in gift box

10 bricks (you get one free)

10 Wooden boards

10 Harnesses

10 Horse Shoes

10 Nails

Sourcing your materials from your friends and neighbors

Just like with every other free gift, after you accept it you will find it in your gift box. Clicking on the ‘use’ button will send your gift to your horse stable.

Post a feed with the items you need

Up to 10 friends per day can click on the feed and send you an item

Everyone gets two of the materials in the Free Gifts tab

The two Free material gifts change every week

The materials are random so you will get different items from some of your friends

Make sure you gift your free materials to increase chances of getting what you need.

Purchasing your horse stable materials

If you want to build your horse stable in a hurry, do not have enough friends and have a stash of FV cash then pop over to the market and buy your materials.

Each item currently costs 1 FV cash

You need 50 items from the market so will mean spending 50 FV cash

Your purchases will automatically be stored in your stable

Helping your neighbors out with their Horse Stable

Posting a feed on your wall announcing that you are setting up your stable and asking them to lend a hand gives any friends that help 100 coins.

When you have 25 building material items you will get a chance to post a feed to your wall. First ten neighbors to hit this feed will get a random Horse Stable building item

When your horse stable is complete, you will again be able to post a feed. The first five neighbors to hit this feed will get a free gray horse. You also get one when your stable is complete.

So, watch out for your neighbors feeds so that you can benefit from these bonuses too.

Once again having lots of neighbors in the FarmVille game gives you a fantastic advantage. We reviewed FarmVille Secrets – the guide with all the tips for all the levels in FarmVille including how to get neighbors, cash, coins and the ultimate farm. Read our review of FarmVille today and see if it will help you in your game.

How should you start up your own horse stable?

I really want to start up a stable to help “problem horses” but I don’t know how to start. Any advice?

A horse stable is a business. Like any business, you need a minimum of these things to get started:
1) A feasibility Study
2) An Attorney
3) An Insurance Agent
4) A Real Estate Agent/Broker
5) A Banker
6) Financial Adviser
7) Tax Professional
A Mentor
9) Capital
10) Extensive Knowledge of your Product or Service
11) A Business Plan
12) Vendors/Alternate Vendors
13) Determination
14) Persistence
15) Lots of HARD WORK!
16) Support from others in your community
17) Staff
18) Clients
This is only the beginning. Starting a business is not easy or simple. Know what you are getting into before you get into it! Realize that there may be those who want to hinder your efforts at starting this business or even take advantage of you in some way. When it comes to taking a chance remember, “Chance favors a prepared mind.” (Louis Pasteur) and, “Success favors an open and persevering mind.”
I hope this helps.

Yoga, Meditation And Western Horseback Riding

Meditation and Relaxation Add to Western Horseback Riding

New riders are often drawn to western horseback riding for the reason that it appears less rigorous than other riding disciplines. The fact is nothing could be further from the truth. Although western styled riding is more laid back in general it requires every bit as much attention and skill even when compared to the skill of dressage. Controlling a 1200 pound animal is no uncomplicated feat regardless of how competently taught and the unique communication between animal and man based on mutual respect is as essential in western horseback riding as it is in any other style.

As rigorous as western horseback riding is there is some reason for the belief it is relaxed. Though it takes knack there is a mental and physical relaxation involved in western horseback riding that is as much a part of the skill as it is part of the satisfaction. Using relaxation to broaden western riding abilities has become a key to excelling in the competitive world of western style riding events.

Locating Your Core

Just as in meditation and relaxation techniques finding your center is crucial in western horseback riding. Employing many of the same methods used by yoga and meditation experts can help you relax into your seat. In western horseback riding the seat even more than in all other riding disciplines is a major communication center. Sitting deep and comfortably will ensure a direct line of communication. Relaxed reins offer less continuous contact with the mouth and being able to use legs and seat to transform desires helps develop a pivotal relationship between horse and rider.

Getting a Leg Up

With all of the benefits of western horseback riding it is very well suited to helping disabled children and adults alike enjoy the inherent communication between horse and man. The benefits extend even further in that the muscles used to sit a horse are naturally engaged and steadiness is improved along with mental stillness. There have been numerous cases where therapeutic horseback riding has helped bring autistic children out of their shells even for short moments, given physically disabled children and adults more dexterity and confidence, and made important strides in the mental well-being of psychologically distressed individuals.

Past Connecting the Yet to come

While it is less historically known in Europe western horseback riding has a root deep into the western past of America. Those roots connect to the current era of competition, trail riding, open country, combination training, and even most recently Olympic riding endeavors. The future of western horseback riding is ensured by its value in stock control, exciting rodeo events, challenging gaming events, as much as in the relaxing mental setting it provides.

I have two questions, Whats the difference between Western and English Horseback riding?

Im looking into taking horseback riding lessons one place offers both English and Western Style, the other place, that looks more interesting, only offers English style, thats why Im interested in the difference. Also I couldn’t fit this into the question area, What is dressage and what is Hunt seat? I looked them both up online, but I dont understand too much of horseback riding information, so I don’t quite understand what both are and the difference for that as well. Thanks in advance for helping.

There are many differences between english and western riding styles, the most obvious being the difference in tack. Tack, which encompases the sadddle and bridle, as well as any other “gear” the horse might wear, differs signifigantly between western and english. If you were to ride western, you would use a western saddle, which has a horn (the thing in the front of the saddle that sticks up), and a much deeper wider seat. On the other hand, if you were to ride english, you would use an english saddle, which has no horn, and flatter, shallower seat. Western riders are often western pleasure riders (which is a different riding style within western, like barrel racing or pole bending) which calls for the horse to have a very lopey sittable gait and carry their head very low. The rider is suppposed to make the ride look relaxed, controlled, and give the illusion of easyness. English style, which i ride, is more of a formal, riding style that calls for controll, and obedience. Technically, english riding can be more detail oriented, and there are more technical things that the rider must know, such as controll and use of their legs, seat, and hands. However, just like western, “english” only names the discipline one rides and not the type ie. hunter, jumper, eventer, or equitation. As for your other question, dresage is another style of english riding that takes the technicality of riding even higer, and requires its participants to be able to complete complex manuvers on the flat. Hunt seat applies to english riding also, and is the way that the rider uses her seat, hands, and legs together often while jumping over obstacles. It was meant to mimic the style of riding that fox hunters displayed. I appoligize for the lenghty explanation, but i hope it helps

Advantages of Horse Back Riding

For many centuries horseback riding has been much popular for many reasons. Soon, horse riding became a chief mode of travel. First, horses were mainly used for fighting and hunting purposes as the speed of the horse gave people good advantage. With the arrival of carriages, people are able to move themselves and their belongings to long distances with very little difficulty. But nowadays, horseback riding finds its use in recreation and therapy. Horseback riding camps are offered from almost anywhere in the world to anyone. It provides a wonderful and thrilling experience much more than merely riding through hills and valleys.

Instructions about caring of horses and grooming are also fundamental requirements for attending these camps. They will teach about various kinds of tack, like saddles, halters, bridles, bits and other horse gear. Most of the riding levels catered to in these camps, and they are appropriate for both beginner and experienced riders who might find themselves lucky enough to possess a horse for the first time in their life time.

While choosing a horseback riding camp, you should first make a decision on which style of riding your children wants to learn. Western riding is usually associated with ranches, cowboys and rodeos. These camps could be found all through the United States, and are also commonly known as Dude Ranches or Guest Ranches in western portions of the country. Most of the western riding activities comprises of trail riding and barrel racing. Western saddles are designed keeping comfort and security of the riders in mind, so it will have a higher seat back and front so riders feel the safety while on the horse.

On the other hand English riding, in general focuses on racing and horsemanship. This riding style requires both the horse and rider to have more freedom of movement, so these saddles will not give as much as support and security as in a Western style saddle. For a first time rider, you can consider joining a western riding camp.

Horseback riding is a very good therapy for people of any age with any physical disabilities. This therapy provides a funny environment to carry out new skills and also e skills existing that people are seeking to improve. Also they enjoy the benefits of being around people with whom they could relate easily. By following the instructions of the riding counselors, we can discover how to walk, run and canter the horses correctly with confidence. After attaining enough skill and self-confidence, take part in supervised trail rides and advanced riders could learn various show fundamentals.

If you are eagerly looking to do something different the next time summer rolls about, you could consider horseback riding camps. The experiences and enjoyment gained at these camps will make sure that your stay would be a highlight and you’ll keep in mind forever.
Do you prefer English or Western horseback riding and why?

i know i asked this before
i’m not going to give you a thumbs down or up if u prefer one over the other. i’m just wondering
ok um barrel racer lover…i wasn’t saying english versus western. i wuz seeing which is more popular and why and whatever. i don’t have a favorite either, i’m not those ppl who say OH ENGLISH IS SO MUCH BETTER or western is better or whatever. no. don’t judge before you get to know why i REALLY asked the question.

I prefer english,
because I can jump and in a western saddle you can’t do that, But I do ride western when I go on trail rides.

Horseback Riding Vacations: What to Pack?

So you have decided to look for horseback riding vacations, either alone or with your friends. Once you have chosen your ideal horseback riding vacation, then what? It’s time to pack that case, but what do you really need to take with you on your horseback riding vacation?

A properly fitted riding hat of the current standard is a must. As are flat soled shoes that cover the toe. Some horseback riding vacation centers will be able to provide you with boots and hats, but it is always better to take your own. Not everybody likes to wear riding hats as standard, especially in the hot weather, but you have to decide if it’s really worth the risk. There are plenty of riding hats available now that are specifically designed to keep you cool in hot weather.

If you want to go on a horseback riding vacation where you will be spending many hours in the saddle, then it’s worth checking what kind of saddles they use, and consider taking a sheepskin seat saver if you find it hard going being in the saddle for many hours. Riding gloves are a sensible option, as reins can easily rub your fingers raw if you are not used to riding for many hourse at a time. If you end up with a sore bottom and sore fingers, you will not enjoy the rest of your horseback riding vacation!

For clothing, you should check the local weather forecasts and pack accordingly. Even if you are headed to a warm climate do take a shower proof jacket as you can never be certain of the weather. Long sleeved linen shirts help prevent sunburn, insect bites and scratches from tree branches whist keeping you cool. If your chosen horseback riding vacation center is in a colder part of the world then it makes sense to take a few layers, as this way you can layer up to keep warm, and strip down if you’re too hot!

If you think you will need things such as sun cream and insect repellent, check whether you are able to buy these easily at your chosen destination. A travellers first aid kit with plasters and antiseptic cream is also useful. Finally, don’t forget your favourite book. Most horseback riding vacations allow some time out of the saddle and you can spend a few hours relaxing by the pool, or next to the roaring log fire.

La Fiaba offers horseback riding vacations in Tuscany for all levels of rider.

There are standards of horse riding wear that you need to take into account, and these clothes items are not just for the aesthetics of looking good.

Rather, horse riding clothes have practical uses, which ensure that you would not be injured or inconvenienced while riding your steed. In addition, they play the role to offer you a comfortable feeling and make your riding really enjoyable.

This article reveals the right answers about different horse riding clothes. Here, you will discover what you should wear and why. Hence, read each line carefully to make your riding time really safe and enjoyable.

Q1: What kind of hat or helmet to wear?

This accessory protects your head with its strong shield and soft lining in case you get thrown off or fall off your mount.

Check, if your hat or helmet is approved by the SEI/ASTM (Safety Equipment Institute/American Standard for Testing Materials) so you know that it is indeed safe for you to wear.

If your hat does not adhere to these standards, then you should get a new one as soon as possible.

Q2: What kind of jackets should you wear?

Rather than making sure that you are well-clothed and look good while riding, you should care more for a horse riding jacket. Indeed, it plays the role to make you feel comfortable while sitting on your horse.

In this manner, you should wear a jacket that has a vent at its back or gusset so its bottom parts could spread or lie back on the saddle. This way, the clothing would not get in your way of riding your horse.

Q3: What kind of gloves should you buy?

Horse riding gloves make sure that you would not get blisters on your hands while handling your horse. In addition, these gloves make you feel comfortable while riding, roping, or whatever activity you are doing with your steed.

Q4: What kind of pants to wear?

Horse riding breeches, Jodhpurs, or jeans provide you protection from the rough leather saddle. In addition, thanks to the seat patches, they offer you the best convenience and comfort while riding.

These items also protect your legs and knees from other things you might encounter while riding.

Q5: What kind of riding boots should you get?

Wear footwear that has about one and half inch heel and low threads. Adding to this, make sure that the heel and sole are appropriate enough to fit with the stirrups.

Trainers are alright to wear while riding, while hiking boots are big enough to get you stuck in the stirrups.

Make sure that you have reliable riding apparel and not just cheap horse riding clothes. Do not compromise, when it comes to the quality.

Adding to this, it is strongly recommended to check online forums to see what others say. This way, you will shorten your learning curve.

Does anyone know where I can get this horse riding hat/helmet???

Recently when at a local showjumping competition, I saw a rider with this really nice riding hat/helmet. It was grey, and like some of the other hats that have the silver strip through the middle of the hat/helmet, the hat had one too. Except it was a baby pink colour.
I would REALLY like to know where I can get this helmet, because I REALLY liked it and have been dying to find it for months!!

I dont know if it is just a grey riding helmet with changeable strip things but if anyone knows what the hat is called or where to get one online, PLEASE let me know!!

thanks
