I hate the color of my room! It is a boring dull yellow. But the problem is, I have everything in my room and can’t take everything out and ask my parents to repaint. When you stay in a luxurious rental villa in Puerto Vallarta, it’s pretty easy to grow so content with your surroundings that you don’t venture far from the villa. The region’s pre-history has made it the subject of serious archaeological research for many years; local treasures are housed in Mascota’s museum, a terrific collection of dolls, pottery and a lovely faceted gemstone.

It is possible to get a glimpse of Mascota’s past at the Mascota Museum and the Mascota Casa de Cultura. The museum represents the fond labors of Raoul Rodriguez, his personal collection. Much of his collection reflects modern Mascota, including mementos of Mascota native and film star Ester Fernandez, who filled the screen during Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema. The collection also features the oil paintings of Mascota artist Gilberto Guerra. A half-block up the street, the Mascota Casa de Cultura houses a permanant exhibit of photographs that explore some of the 12,000 petroglyphs left by ancient inhabitants that pay homage to sun, water, and fertility.

It is very easy to get to Mascota from Puerto Vallarta, although it’s a very long day trip. Buses from town make the trip daily, or if you prefer, you can drive your own car on the newly finished road. For travellers with a taste for upscale adventures, it is possible to jump on a special charter flight and tour the entire region, including stops in San Sebastian, Talapa and Mascota.

What is the meaning of Franz Marc’s Paintings ‘Large Blue Horses’ and ‘The Steer’?

Both oil on canvas with abstract colours. ‘The Steer’ is also known as The Bull. Does anyone have any ideas on what they symbolise/ represent?

Firstly, don’t say ‘abstract colors’ there is no such thing. There are two type of color depiction – one known as local color – where an artist tries to depict the true color of an object or a surface as seen in typical daylight; the other is expressive use of color – as in Marc’s paintings where he chooses any color that he wanted to express the atmosphere of the painting, his feeling towards the object he is painting, an idea he wanted to express. ie. Marc used color as an expressive means (didn’t use local color as I have described above).
In the case of both these animal paintings Marc wasn’t looking to express symbols, but to arrive at the the spirit of the animal as it appeared to him. I quote: Franz Marc devoted much of his artistic energy to creating images of horses and other animals. The allure of animals was not, for Marc, simply a formal or zoological interest, but stemmed from a deep fascination with the dynamic connection between animals, humans, and the natural world they shared. How do you take apart a plastic model horse without breaking it?

I have tried soaking it in hot water to melt the glue but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. It is attached inside with little plastic prongs. I want to get it apart to re-hair it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to tell you this but the little plastic prongs are most likely glued with a plastic glue and they are now the strongest part of the model. There are ways to disassemble it but it will mess up the re hair part of the project.
Here’s what I would do. If you can get to the prongs you can cut them and then separate the parts. When you’re ready to reassemble lightly sand the area where the prongs where and reglue. It wont be quite as strong but it will hold. If when the prongs are cut they can’t be reglued you could add additional plastic strips on each half and glue to that. Wrap the model in some tape to hold when you reglue. Good luck and I hope this helps.

This is a story of a girl, who lived in deep hills of Kashmir. She was in total confirmatory mode with nature. She wore a tent to save from the climatic extrems.She never cut trees for her luxury huts but used worn out departed twigs of the old fallen trees for making fires to warm ,cook or frighten away some of the attacking wild animals. She reared cows and buffaloes for milk and made excellent drinks, breavrages and products out of it. She was happy living as meadow girl until she met a city dewellor, who changed her life. Now we see her no more meadows .This story is an imaginative true story of that girl and the change in her. Her name was Mir Jan. She lived in the deep forests of the Malangam in district Bandipure, near my little township already described under these pages as koel. She lived in the upper reaches of the mountains just near the beeline. They had a small herd of few Buffaloes, cowas, sheep, goats, mules, horses, poultry and dogs.

All the people in the vicinity of this mountainous range respected him for his wise and noble advice. He had many wives and all bore children and settled in this mountainous range by deforesting I and constructing huge but humble house of wood.Mirjon was the elder daughter of his son who had only one wife and had separated from his father in the early days and made his own empire in this mountainous region. By then with the kashmir valley being broken into two Jammu and kashmir and Azad kashmir ,this family of Nga bajees had assumed a political significance because of a large section of the Guars and bakarwalls respecting the Naga bajee as they spiritual leader NAGA BAJEES LUNGER They used to carry wood, grains, animals and cash as offerings .As these Jogger and bakarwals move with their focks of sheep, goats, mules, horses, and dogs every year from Kashmir (summer) to Jammu (WINTER).

BAJEES LUNGER

 During their movement they will visit the bajee along with their offerings. The Nanga bajee by the 1950 has established a free lunger.Here all shall be offered free bread and milk twice a day. This usual simple practice was later changed to selfish tea and a bandore roti (breed).Now rice and meat or vegetables have replaced the lunger routine but the visitors are less and the open free lunge has also changed to specialized preferential treatments. If nobles or the political people visit now they will bow treated differently than the rest poor devotees. Nevertheless the system of lunger continues .It persisted because of the foresight of the Naga baje commonly called as Bajee sahib. During land reforms in the state he purchased a big chunk of land from some pundit landlord .He the bajee had a Kashmiri Muslim as Munshi,who belonged to a nearby village called onagam.The mushy visited his house daily after his routine job of collecting the offering and caring for the necessities of the luger and the family. The bajees have by that time created a huge infrastructure and house for living and housing the animal’s .The Munshi used to ride a spotless white horse and travelled every day from Onagam to Malangam on the horse back. Sometimes a few horse loads of goods shall follow him from the grosser shop of Baca’s of BANDIPORE who were the big business tycoons of the town now a district headquater.The bajee had assumed the spiritual and political significance of ate area tribes head man. All disputes used to be settled by him especially among jugars and bakarwalls. Some neighbouring Kashmir never gave them much importance but the spiritual significance persisted sometimes across the society.

DEATH OF BAJEE

Bajees death I was a small child. It was raining cats and dogs with showers of snow. A few people were announcing the death of the NAGA BAJEE NAGA BAJEES DEATH AND POLITICS OF THE AREA I too remember the day and it occurred to my innocent mind of 5or 6 years old as why it rained and snowed so heavily on this occasion .Had he been a saint ,close to God and many such silly questions came to my mind. I do not remember the exact dates, but it was after the 1953 episode of sheer-e Kashmir arrest and unrest among the people. As my mother was from the family of Numberdars and her mother from sheiks, I had access to discussions at the highest level in the village or area happenings. The two men were very significant in my awareness stride. One Mr AFZAL SHIEK a true national conference worker till death and a village noble. He was maternal uncle of my mother and I being always a topper in the school was much loved in my mother’s family especially with this uncle and her brother the Mohammad Mir. My maternal uncle. They used to have a big hall in their respective houses where people will assemble to settle their disputes. The children, women folk were not allowed to these discussions for fear of leakages. Even servants and sons of the two were at times refrained to join these discussions, however I was an exception. The doors were never closed on me .Some times with my little suggestions on some matters the people will be amused .I remember the notables of the village QUIL then were SUBHAN CHOPAN from Chopin mohlla,Ahad JOO from Wani Mohlla,Mohmad Mir from MUKDOM MOHLAAH,Ahmad chokidar from AQAL MIR MOHLLA(This mohlla was not considered as respectable mollahla like those of Mukhdams )Afzal sheikh from SHIEK mullah and WALI Bhat from BHAT Mohlla (Angrez,their fore father used to be cook to englih people as such were nick named as Angrez).Wali Bhat a crippled on by bath with his two legs joined perhaps due to polio had to be carried by some on his back. Due to this disability later he was forcibly replaced by a gonad type singer, who was hated by the notables as he used to clandestinely perpetuate wrong conspiracies in the village. Initially he was an out casted singer used to have a boy with women clothes and singing on marriages and fuctions.

THE TURMIOL

This type of people not respected in the society were encouraged by the congress in the centre to undue SHERE-E –KASHMIRS cry for self determination. The band was encouraged during Bhakshi rule in Kashmir. These bands were also the popular singers at the functions of bajee. The village quill was always divided into the right and wrong sections of the society. The sheiks, chopans, Joos (WANIS), Mukhdams represented the right and the rest a few represented the others. The rights were more than the wrong doers. In short the whole area at the time of death of the Nanga bajee was thrown into a worst tussle between the right verses wrong. The time proved this rift continued even after the death of the Bajee. He used to be a binding force in the hour of need and was respected by all quarers.After her death the throne of bajee was bestowed to his son who was not his eldest but younger to few. He could not carry the sagacity of the Bajees but tried to side with the ruling politicians who so ever came to power .This made him a worldly man more than Godly saint. I knew him well and was always good and friendly to me. My encounter with the meadow girl. I became a vegetarian and was posted as a veterinary surgeon in the then Tehsil hospital, Bandipure.One fine morning when I was in the hospital a man resembling bajees came to me and at the first glance I recognised him as one from Bajees. He introduced himself as Mr MATOO BAJEE.I had heard of him living on the outskirts of Mangham Balla, a far off place in the foothills near to the dense forests of the area. His dog had a strike and he wanted me to visit him at his residence. After knowing I belong to JOOS of koel he was thrilled as he knew my father. As the case was not of an urgent nature, the stroke was few weeks or days old we decided to visit his house on the next day. As it was not possible to travel by cab, we decided he will bring a horse early in the morning to my home in the morning at koel. He came exactly at 8 AM along with a horse properly saddled and charming. We reached His place around noon and on examination of the dogma treated him with vitamins and massage along with some exercise. The treatment continued for few weeks and the dog showed recovery. After few days when I examined the dog in my clinic, he had perfectly recovered .The treatment was discontinued and dog lives for years thereafter.

VETERINERY PRACTICE IN A VILLAGE

 This send messages to the whole Bajee family and now cases started pouring one by one and I assumed the family veterinarian status of the Bajees. This gave a new hope among their followers the gujarrs to bring their animals to veterinary hospital, as when their peer treated their animals at the hospital, certainly the doctor should be a blessed one and thus whenever they went to the peer babe for some treatment to their animals he directed them to me. We have by then developed a close friendship with the peer, called by now an aka bajee. Meadow girl As the meadow girl was one of the best girls in the family of the bajee dynasty rearing and caring animals. She used to have battery of servants to care for his herds and flocks described and she used to move from winter shelters in Malangam to summer shelters at NAGMARG during summers. SUNDAY ROUTINE One fine Sunday when I returned from the hospital. I used to follow rules perfectly. The routine in the Govt Veterinary hospital of Band pure was to open the hospital on Sundays too for a half day. I used to observe the routine religiously much to the discomfort of my colleagues and even friends who used to mock at me. I remember a friend a human doctor posted in the medical hospital, Bandipure.We both hailed from the adjacent villages. He would often relax on Sunday and will never examine an ailing patient at our bus staff of Kemah where we had to wait some times for hours to board a bus to our respective hospitals. In the mean time if some ailing animals is nearby I shall not hesitate to examine and prescribe the treatment, but the other friends of mine will not. Even my respected dear brother who was a medical assistant hesitated to a night call, while I as a vet was ready to respond to all calls throughout. Hardly few calls used to be there for such emergencies. It may be a call a month. I do remember a call from the village midwife, under whose hands I was born in the dead of night As was told to me by my mother. I attended the call at 2 PM in the night. She had a blind son .

ZEENAT MOSEE THE MIDWIFE

The name of the midwife was zennat.She used to be called as ZANAT MOSE in the village. His blind son named Ahead shiek was the only son residing WI the at that time. The bull was their important asset of ploughing. He was suffering from tympany and I got him relieved through a trchor and they were all in praise and prayers for me.To my dismay my elder brother was sour at the home as I had broken his sleep to lock the doors of the house. He was initially critical of my selfless service but later when he too suffered from cancer had adopted a patient friendly atEFtitude. COMING BACK TO MEADOW GIRL Once these days a poor jogger came to me, asking me to accompany him to examine his ailing cows. The cow has recently part rated and developed post parturient dyspepsia. The cow was cure and the economic situation of the poor man was so desperate that I had to shun a few pennies out of pocket to save the cow.Truely, I felt robbed at that time .However this helped me to gain popularity and a day came when the meadow girl send me a messenger with a horse to treat her animals. She paid fee and cared well for her animals. Since first few treatments of her animals the area started treating their animals and new a new ray of cross breeding came into existence. Till then these so called peers used to tell their followers that the Jersey cows are the descendents of the pigs. On many occasions I discussed with AKA sahib and convinced him.However, it was difficult to convince the meadow girl and her father. Thank God They too were convinced and a whole new devotion of cross breeding resulted due to sincere efforts of many, like dry Teli.wali mohmad,attaullah and others.TO BE CONTINED

My wife’s charity has been donated a framed print for auction.?

Can anyone tell me who Robert Huckaby is? It was signed in 1980? It is a western art print of a man saddling a horse. It is supposed to be valuable, but I have checked the web,google,ebay and have come up blank. The spelling is correct on the name.

It’s not valuable, and Robert Huckaby never attained any fame or notoriety as an artist. Considering that he did prints of western scenes, this is not really surprising.

Painting exterior house walls with wall coatings which also stops render problems and penetrating damp

PREPARATION!!!!! This is essential and is carried out always, before we can apply any of our long life paint and coating products, especially damp proof coatings for walls.

As we offer a 15 year guarantee on all works we do, using the correct preparation techniques is paramount when either having professional work done by a contractor, or in fact, doing it yourself. Any tradesman (or woman) who value their reputation and have pride in their work will tell you that unless the walls are properly prepared, the job will not look as good and not last as long and it will cost twice, or frequently more, in terms of time and money spent. So in essence, if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right especially if it something as important as waterproofing or damp proofing rendered walls or brick walls……….

Which is where we come in!

So with the above considered, how can we distinguish what type of wall needs what. Here below is an explanation of the different types of exterior walls, typical problems, and an explanation of what an Authorised NPA contractor actually does to each individual project?

There are many types of house walls…….

There are many different types of exterior walls that one can see in a typical town or city in the United Kingdom. Many exterior wall finishes are appropriate to certain factors such as the age of the house, the method of construction, the typical weather at the location, and other factors such as people extending houses, converting them, and so on. Maybe in the future, houses will have to be adapted to combat changes in temperature etc caused by Climate change?

When NPA does work on a house or applies a wall coating to a commercial premises such as a shop, we first ascertain what the existing wall surface is, and then tailor our repair and preparation methods accordingly.

Here’s a selection of different exterior walls, and the methods we use to repair them…………….

Exterior wall coating on Brick and stone walls

Brick walls are arguably the most common one in everyone’s mind, even spawning the phrase “hitting a brick wall”, not literally, but meaning coming to a dead end, perhaps in researching something, for example? Brick walls are what most walls nowadays are made of and this also included block walls, made from breeze blocks or large faced blocks, such as bath stone walls.

The bricks are laid end to end, one course (or layer) at a time, in a specific fashion, by a bricklayer or builder, leaving gaps for opening such as doors and windows and the installation of lintels above the openings to carry the course of bricks over the window, for example. The bricks are arranged in a specific fashion for the best strength.

These ways of laying the bricks have certain names such as Flemish bond, stretcher bond, running bond, pattern bond, and refers to the specific way they are laid. They are held together by mortar joints, often called “Pointing”, which consists of a mortar mix laid on the top of one brick, and the bricklayer adds a small lump of mortar to the side a of a new brick, lays it on top of the existing brick, and repeats, until the desired wall is completed. The mortar is sometimes referred to by “brickies” (Bricklayers) as “muck”, “compo”, “mix” or if you’re from the east end of London, “German Band an’ cemun’”…………….whatever that means!

The bricklayer will smooth the mortar joints and remove excess mortar as he or she goes along. It would be another article altogether to explain in full, all about bricks and bricklaying, so we’ll leave it there for now!

……. …and onto what NPA would do in this case.

If NPA was refurbishing a brick (or stone) exterior wall, we would have 2 options.

1) Coloured exterior wall coatings
2) Transparent, liquid silicone waterproof coatings.

The coloured wallcoatings would be the most labour intensive, and would require identifying any loose, missing or broken bricks and repairing or replacing them. (The coatings are special damp resistant coatings, and not only do they make the outside of your home look great, the anti damp nature of the coatings means your house will also feel warmer inside.)

Then we would repair and fill any loose or missing pointing or mortar joints, then we would mask up and protect all areas not to be coated, such as doors and windows, and also of course protect the path by laying dust sheets. We would then do a process known as “Bagging” or “Bag rubbing”, which involves making (by the bucket load each time) a liquid mixture of sand and cement and a PVA Bonding agents, such as Unibond™. This should be mixed to a smooth “creamy” paste, and applied with very thick brushes, or small broom handles. Gloves are essential when doing this, as if not worn, the cement will eat into your skin and cause great discomfort.

We then apply the bagging mixture to the wall, starting from the top and working downwards, and being careful not to let the mixture thicken as this will create an uneven surface and “brush lines” in the surface, which would show through to the top coating and look unsightly.

One this has been done and the cement coating has dried out, we then apply an “off-white” waterproof primer by hand, and then, using a GRACO president airless spray machine, we spray apply our textured exterior coatings, which once applied to the external wall, will not chip, crack, flake or peel, stops damp, and has a 15 year insurance backed guarantee. The same method would be used on walls made of stone. After the coating is applied to the house, you would still be able to see the natural stone outlines, preserving the character of the property, but with the added benefit of the house walls being resistant to penetrating damp, plus also being maintenance free. CLEARSHIELD exterior waterproofing damp proof clear coatings

Our Clearshield system is suitable for stone or brick walls and it does not change the appearance of the house in any way.

We carry out all repairs as stated above, and then we apply 2 coats of silicone based sealer, which soaks into the brickwork, as opposed to laying on the top surface, which means it is not subject to normal erosion from the weather and has a life expectancy of at least 10 years. Exterior wall coatings and painting hung slate walls

Generally speaking this was an old and fairly effective way of weatherproofing a house in the “olden days”. The house walls would be made either from cob, stone or brick, and left unfaced, that is, it would not have a mortar or render coating over the bricks or block wall of the house. Wooden battens (thin pieces of wood) would be nailed to the walls, and then slates would be hung, literally, as in the manner of the roof of a house. This forms an effective barrier against the weather.

Although they can be painted, both with normal masonry paint and exterior wallcoatings, we can do a tremendous amount of repair to this, save for replacing any broken tiles or rotten battens behind the tiles. We would then apply a coat of stabiliser, a coat of waterproof primer, and then spray apply our NPA exterior wall coatings over the top.

THIS WALL TYPE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE RENDER-BASED TROWEL APPLIED WALL COATINGS and you should contact your local wallcoatings specialist for advice.

Devon cob walls

Devon cob walls are normally found on VERY old houses, often subject to preservation regulations and/or listed status and great care must be taken when working on this type of house. The building method used goes back hundreds, even thousands of years and evolved as the builders would have used whatever was to hand in the immediate area. These houses are often also referred to as “vernacular” houses.

This type of wall construction is also known as “Rammed earth”, “pisé de terre” and Adobe or clay lump. Adobe houses can still be found in South and central America, amongst other places. (The Eden project in Cornwall uses adobe (mud) walls which are very effective.) Houses of this type should be treated with great care and refurbishment and repair of such walls requires specialist skills and advice and is not recommended for DIY projects. The house with this type of wall is usually made by mixing ingredients such as mud or clay, gravel, straw or horse hair and water. Walls of this construction are usually up to half a metre thick and examples can be seen in the English countryside, and the houses often benefit from excellent insulation, which coupled with a thick, thatched roof, can make a nice cosy home!

As mentioned above, GREAT CARE should be taken on this type of house. Repair should be carried out using the same or similar methods or materials that had originally been used, which is often why a specialist contractor should be called. A good exterior coating that I would recommend on this type of house would be a limewash or some other breathable coating, but again, remember on traditional houses, traditional methods should be used.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Exterior textured wallcoatings, either spray applied, ORtrowel and roller applied wall coatingsshould NOT IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE be used on this type of dwelling.

Textured coatings and paints on Render or stucco walls

NPA has over the years applied exterior textured wall coatings and protective weatherproof paints to a range of rendered houses across the Uk and Ireland. A rendered house requires us to check the entire wall surface for defects such as loose and hollow render, poorly done DIY or cowboy builder repairs, scars and uneven wall surfaces where alterations have been carried out to the house and of course cracks in the external walls.

We cut out the cracks with an angle grinder and fill them with a special expoxy resin mortar which binds the 2 parts of the building together, and then we “face” off the repair with a final coat of sand and cement, smoothing with a “float” 1st and then a damp sponge at the edges. Quite often on smooth rendered walls, it is advisable once the waterproof primer has been applied (and has dried) to further smooth out the edges of the crack repair in the wall buy “floating” or “skimming” small quantities of the textured coating product, using it as a fine surface filler.

Once the exterior walls are repaired to our satisfaction, we mask up the doors and windows, cover the ground with dust sheets and then hand apply our weather resistant, waterproof primer paint. Once this has dried, we spray apply a damp proof paint coating on top, which is available in either smooth or textured exterior wall finishes.

After this, the masking is removed, and the whole site is tidied up. The coating is 20 times the thickness of normal paint and as such takes longer to dry so you should avoid placing anything against the wall, or touching it, for at least a week. It would be touch-dry in 24 hours and fully hard in about 28 days. The coating will remain breathable, similar to the human skin so that moisture is allowed to evaporate out of the coating film, but cannot get back inside and cause dampness.

Wallcoatings on Tyrolean, Pebbledash and Spar dash walls

Pebbledash, tyrolean and spar dash walls go in and out fashion every few years. If you’ve ever tried painting a pebbledashed wall, you know how tough it is! The methods we use are very similar to the brick wall system above, so instead of repeating myself again, take a look at this page all about painting exterior pebbledashed walls, but remember to click your BACK button to come back here afterwards!

Pebbledash is a nasty substance and was invented purely to cover poor quality brickwork during the building boom in the UK during the 1920’s and 1930’s. A pebbledashed exterior wall finish is created by rendering the house with a soft sticky render coat and literally throwing stones or small pebbles at the house. Traditional pebbledash is made from small pebbles, but modern dash is usually spar dash or spa-dash and is applied in the same method above but small flint chips are used instead of pebbles. This inferior external wall finish is very coarse to the touch and the editor himself has literally taken the skin off the back of his hands when accidentally brushing up against a wall that has been spar dash, and let me tell you……….IT HURTS!

Tyrolean, also sometimes called “Sprayed cement” is brittle and doesn’t usually last very long unless it has an exterior coating treatment on it. Contact your local wallcoating specialist for advice, but to read more about tyrolean, follow the link posted in the previous paragraph above.

I want to decorate the baby’s nursery with pictures of animals?

I found on the internet this really cute barn animals made of wood (cow horse chicken) that one can glue to the wall. The problem is that they cost a fortune ($799 for the whole set). It is ridiculous .
Neither of us are any good with drawing so I wonder if there are any large stickers that I can use instead.
WHere can I find something like that? Or any other idea?

There are a variety of options available to you.

First, see if you can buy or borrow a projector. I bought an old fashioned one from a school surplus sale for $10, but would love a digital. You may be able to rent one. Using the projector, you can project images onto the wall and stencil them in, and then paint. If you do not want to do this directly onto the wall, purchase some blank canvas and do it on there and then hang them.

Alternatively, you could hire someone to do a mural. One of the churches we are associated with has a wonderful artist that does the most amazing murals-the VBS there is always so surreal.

I am certain you can purchase wooden shapes for a lot less than $800. Visit your local arts and crafts store. A neat idea would be to have a lot of family members decorate one for the baby’s nursery, and sign their name on the back. Not only would it be helpful and fun, but a neat keepsake.

You could use stuffed animals instead, but did you know stuffed animals can multiply? LOL

And, yes-you probably can find wall stickers. Check Lowe’s, Home Depot, Babies R Us, Wal Mart, etc…and the internet if you have no luck at those places. eBay will have some. How large you can find them, I do not know.

She was able to get her first dog when this female painter was eight. It died within the year but the small Boston terrier was able to leave a lasting impression on the girl. There is a special place in her heart when it comes to noble pets. With a specialization in portraits of dogs, she is one accomplished painter.

Many Sunday afternoons have been spent by her in the public library where she goes through every dog book and magazine she could find. It was before her art career when she hoped to become a professional dog handler showing dogs in trials and dog shows. Sketching and drawing the animals, at 13 she spent most of her free time going to different dog shows. She was 16 when a friend encouraged her to try painting with oils as well as make portraits of dogs.

This specialty of hers is something that she chose even if she is quite capable of painting landscapes, abstracts, sea scapes, and other subjects. When she began her career, she was able to make and sell quite a number of dog portraits telling her that she made the right move. The members of the family had dogs and these were what she painted at first. She created a picture of their own Boston terrier which a local pet shop displayed as they put up a notice about her paintings.

Two paintings are what she credits for a large measure of her progress. Her first painting was one of an amazing little mongrel restored by the animal humane association to health and adopted as a mascot called charlie black. It was a handsome Alaskan malamute, the champion phantom of the ice flue that was in her second painting.

The expression and head are very important assets for a Labrador retriever they sort of make the dog. When it comes to a black dog, not only is hard to photograph one but painting it is even harder. One of the paintings she did was of the statue of a jacket found in Tutankhamen’s tomb which was unusual. What were in the background were Egyptian symbols.

On several occasion, people have asked her to make portraits of other pets including horses. The help she gets from her husband is both tangible and psychological. Holding her paints and brushes was the specially designed table he made. She herself made and stained the specially crafted easels and display stands on which she shows her work. It was a three by four foot portrait of a Labrador which was her biggest portrait.

The smoother dogs are easier to paint than those with longer coats. Never does she pose the dogs. Dogs cannot easily hold their heads just right. What she does is observe the animal for an hour and this gives her the ability to remember its typical stance not to mention its sheen and the color of its coat plus the personality or character traits that it shows. There are lots of people who see her talent when it comes to recording these traits onto a canvas.

She works from snapshots furnished by the owner. It is also possible for her to take the pictures herself and blow it up on the screen if the owners cannot provide one. Considering backgrounds and the like, she leaves the decisions to the people she paints for. Sometimes, one chooses sceneries and then others choose plain ones. Considering family commitments, she is only able to do a portrait a month. She does housework and takes vacations every now and then.

Metal Panels Aren’t Your Only Round Pen Solution

It is thought that the horse’s memory is second only to the elephant’s. What does that mean for you? Well, simply put, any mistake that you make will likely never be forgotten.

That said, the Round Pen is truly the place where both you and your horse learn to speak each other’s language. With time and work, it will seem like both of you can read each other’s minds. And, round pen training helps you avoid costly mistakes that can take years to mend.

Once you’ve decided to build a round pen, you do have options. Metal panels are not your only solution. You can build your round pen out of wood fence or vinyl fence. Or, choose a combination of wood posts with vinyl rails…

It’s actually not that difficult to build your own round pen. The hardest part is getting your measurements right, then digging your post holes. However, the entire process is fairly simple and can usually be completed in a weekend by yourself or with friends.

One nice thing about building your own round pen is that it can be less expensive than buying metal panels. And, you can customize it the way you want it. You’ll get to choose the height, gate width and number of rails. And you can add personal touches like a walk through gate or a second “people only” gate!

Safety is an important issue to consider. Simply put, metal round pen panels do not give. If a horse gets caught in a panel or a rider get’s bucked off, it’s usually not a pretty sight.

Wood rails will give a little bit depending on their thickness and they will also break under extreme pressure. This will provide some relief and is definitely safer than metal.

Vinyl rails are the safest solution to building your round pen. The rails give and absorb shock brilliantly. Depending on the type of vinyl rail you use, the wood post will often snap before anything happens to the rail.

The look of the round pen is also essential. You can match the look of your existing fencing to your round pen. For example, if you have 3 rail fence on your property, you can build your round pen as 3 rail wood or vinyl and experiment with the rail width.

Make sure your round pen feels somewhat enclosed. Depending on your post height and rail width, you could end up with an airy feeling round pen or an enclosed round pen. Post heights range from 4.6″ – 7′. Wood rails are usually 6″ – 8″ wide on round pens. Vinyl rail usually comes in 4″, 5″ and 6″ widths.

Maintenance is another factor to consider. Try to use pressurized wood if you can. It holds up much better than standard lumber and insects don’t tend to like it very much! Prime and paint or stain your wood. This will protect it and also give you a choice in the color of your round pen.

Vinyl requires virtually no maintenance…all you’ll need to do is hose it off every now and then to keep it clean. The standard vinyl rail color is white; however, you can also find it in brown and black.

So, when it comes to building your Round Pen, know that you do have options. Actually, you have a lot of them!

What kind of Solar Power panel setup do I need for this horse bucket?

I’ve been figuring ways to keep water thawed out for some horses this winter, and this heated horse bucket seems to be the easiest thing.

figuring at 4 dollars a watt for solar power, that is very expensive not to mention that the solar panel does not work during darkness and when the sunlight is greatly shaded.

you would need a battery with the ability to supply 260 watts per hour for darkness and that will require a battery

i suggest you place it near a power outlet, if this it not possible, conact the alternate energy store and talk to one of the sales staff and if you go with a panel, look for a dent and scratch, they cost less but still work
