Horse Jumps And Hurdles Hurdles What Are They Made Of
Horse jumps are designed and set up to test the abilities of both horse and rider. When your magnificent steed approaches his jumps, you want to know that he is going to safely clear it, and that you are going to ride him safely over the jump. Safety is assured (as much as possible) when you buy the jumping equipment from a reliable company. Safety is primary.
After safety concerns, price is important. A company may guarantee that his company s equipment is sold to you at the lowest price. This includes costing less than any other manufacturer charges for similar quality jumping equipment.
Regardless of manufacturer, the crucial details and design are crucial. Whether made of wood or PVC, the design might be the same. Wood is susceptible to rotting but PVC, a man made material is not. It can be left out in the rain. Most purchasers are choosing PVC because it is impervious to rain and can be left outside regardless of the weather.
PVC is a more expensive material to work with, however, it can now be manufactured more cheaply than wood because of computerized methods. This makes PVC competitive in the market. It is, in fact, cheaper to buy than wood.
The world of show horses and jumpers has a large variety of show requirements such as sizes and kinds of jumps. Some are dressage shows, with horses who are trained to dance and take jumps of a particular kind. There are cross country trail competitions for Western horse shows. For the Western jumpers, the actual obstacles are those the horse might find on a nature trail.
There are specifications for each type of jump. As a beginner who wants to start with a few simple hurdles, you need to know some facts. You can set up your first jumps. Check each piece of equipment for nails or sharp pieces. A cross rail is a kind of upright fence made with two poles meeting at the center in a cross. This keeps the horse jumping in the center of the jump.
There are oxer jumps and pyramid jumps and an endless number of combination jumps. All require careful measurements be taken. The height is important and the distance between jumps is crucial. Generally speaking, allow twelve feet between jumps for a horse, and ten feet for a pony.
Jumps require twelve feet between them for a horse and ten feet for a pony. You can also, as an alternative, measure your own horse’s stride for perfect distancing. A simple tape measure will suffice to measure the distances.
Never place a pole behind any jump. This will confuse your horse greatly. By creating a false ground line, it makes the horse see the jump as being further back than it is. The judgement of the horse is crucial to avoid jumping being a dangerous activity.
The requirements for the size regulations in competitions are stringent. Planners of the shows want to add accessories that are aesthetically pleasing to those spectators attending the event. You can buy accessories such as extra rails, cups, wings and flower boxes to make the ring a lovely place. Jumps can be purchased in package deals or individually. Appearance is not of primary importance, but it does add to the horse show experience.
Horse jumps provide the course for the jumping competition. Spectators love to watch the graceful jumps made by horses. They do not realize how difficult these jumps are. They might not know how much training is involved to accomplish this feat. But, the pleasure of watching their graceful maneuvers over the course is a wonderful thing.

How do i get my horse to stop knocking jumps?
My horse is a 5 year old 15.3hh thoroughbred. We were going so good in jumping, we cleared 1.20m (4ft) and have done some really wide jumps and she was fine but recently she keeps knocking the poles weather its a meter high jump or a 75cm jump. is there any tips that will help make her pick up her feet? she knocks them with both front and hind but probably the front more.
Jumps that are knocked down by front feet are rider error… hind end is horse error or lack of scope. Your horse is knocking the rails because she is too deep to the base of the jump at takeoff. Teach her to stand off the fences by putting a “cheater rail” 9 feet from the base of the jump on the takeoff side…. this should back her off. Gymnastics are also fabulous for this purpose because they require the horse to put her feet down at precise intervals in order to correctly negotiate the sequence.
Bringing Home Your New Baby. What’s Next? You’ve made it! After all the frustration and false hopes you’ve finally found the right horse, and he’s coming home tomorrow! You can’t wait to show him off to your friends who’ll see how wonderful he is to ride. Boy, are they going to be amazed! No, they’re not: because you’re not going to ride him tomorrow. Or the next day, or the rest of the week. The tricky thing to understand about horse riding, for beginners, is that a horse needs time to adjust to his new home....
