White Horse cellar scotch whiskey. I need some information on its origin and age?

Th bottle is numbered 420280. Its unopened, has the original tax tag over the neck, its a 4/5 bottle and its 86.8 proof. The bottle is still in the original paper mache box. I need to know the age of the bottle (as close as possible) and if it has a value. I would appreciate any input as to this mystery. I know where it came from and who made it and a lot of other history about the maker, but the date of manufacture? Thanks

Can i get my horse across this bridge?

I live right across from a canal and there is a walkers path. I have used the trail before but now i have moved and where i live now it requires me to go over a bridge. It is a steel bridge with holes, that little traffic goes over. do you think i could get my horse to go over it? How should i attempt it?
The bridge platform is all holes but not big enough for a horse or even human foot to fall into. The water does not move fast either.

Yes, you should be able to get your horse across that bridge (assuming it’s safe to do so). I think the best way to start is to get off and lead him across. He will probably be nervous about it since he can see through the bottom, but with time, you’ll get him over it, and eventually he’ll do it without hesitation. Approach it like getting a horse who doesn’t want to load onto a trailer. The first day, you might have to be satisfied with him only getting his front feet onto the bridge. Keep at it.

When I was in college with my generally nervous horse, I got her to go through a small culvert under a 6-lane highway plus shoulders and a median. I could ride her through the tunnel, but the roof and either side were not too far away. I’d guess it was 10 feet tall and 6 feet wide. There were three of them, side by side for a creek to go through but the creek mostly went through only two of them. It was so long and so dark that you couldn’t see a thing other than the tiny rectangle of light at the other end. It was really spooky. I’m a little surprised I got her through it, but after the first few times, she went through willingly.

What Should I Charge for Horse Stall Stripping?

I have someone that wants me to strip their stalls completely. What are normal prices for this? What do you think I should charge? I’m looking to charge per stall.

It depends on what kind of bedding there is, and what kind of flooring there is.
If it’s shavings on a rubber-matted floor, those are easy to scoop out with a transfer shovel and sweep out. Straw is harder, and both are hard on a dirt floor, because they’ll probably want you to take some dirt off, too.
I would charge $5 for shavings on rubber-matted, $6 for straw on rubber-matted, and $10 for either on dirt.
It also depends what exactly they want you to do, like lift the mats and hose them down, relevel the ground, etc. Of course, they would add a few bucks to the cost of the job.

How to Groom a Horse : How to Halter a Horse Before Grooming

How do I get my horse to let me put a halter on him?

I just got a couple of horses. They are seniors, in their 20s. The person I got them from said that they are easy to halter, lead, catch, groom, pick up feet, dental & vet check ups EVERYTHING! I have had them for about 4 days now and one of them is getting his feet trimmed today. I have tried walking up to him in the pasture, with the halter behind my back, so he doesn’t get spooked, but he just keeps walking away from me and won’t lift his head from eating the grass. This is my first farrier visit ever, and I don’t want the farrier to get mad at me for not being able to halter and hold him while she trims. I don’t have cross ties, that is why i have to hold him. This horse just walks away from me and ignores me, how can I get him to allow me to halter him?

Take a feed bucket with a couple of cups of grain in it, loop your lead rope and halter over your shoulder, and walk out to where your horse is pastured. Stop about 20 feet away from him and shake the bucket. Then don’t do anything. Just give it a couple of shakes every minute or so, until he decides he’s going to come over to you. When he walks near, turn and walk away 5 or 6 steps and stop. Do this a couple of times, then let him “catch” you. Allow him a bite of grain from the bucket, and reach over and pat him– if he moves away, start over. Keep doing this until he lets you pat him freely, then slip the rope around his neck, up close enough to his ears so that it feels as if he has a halter on. Make sure you have a good hold on him, then slip the halter on, and let him finish the grain in the bucket.

The main idea here is to make him seek YOU out and catch YOU, instead of the other way around. Make it a rewarding thing for him to catch YOU, and he’ll regret letting you get away.

If you can lure him to a spot where he’s less likely to bolt away from you while you’re doing this, all the better. Somewhere near a barn or corral, or even the corner of the fenceline.

Practice doing this when you don’t really need to catch him… go through the motions, halter him, pet or groom him briefly, and let him go. Then when you really need him, it’ll be a snap!
